SAILING OPTIMYSTIC
The busier our lives got in Cleveland, the more our world seemed to shrink down to the logistics of getting our three kids back and forth to school, the unforgiving schedule of sports activities, growing professional demands, constant errands etc… We wanted to blow our world wide open again, make it big and exciting. More importantly, we wanted our kids to have an unforgettable experience and see how the seed of an idea can become an amazing reality. All it takes is a plan and tackling each piece one step at a time.
Welles and Val met for the first time at birthday dinner in London. The next time they saw each other was as they boarded a float plane headed deep into the Canadian Arctic for a two week white water canoeing trip. Neither of them had any whitewater canoeing experience. Spoiler alert, they survived! Two decades and three kids later, their family of five is leaving behind their dogs and a comfy life in suburban Cleveland to tackle another epic challenge. Val only just learned how to sail, while is Welles is still wrapping his head around the mechanics of diesel engine and water-maker repairs. The kids are along for the ride. This should be interesting!
We can’t wait to see where this journey takes us and how the adventure changes us. You’ll be able to follow our ups and downs both via YouTube and Instagram. We should start posting in January. Stay tuned.
