SAILING OPTIMYSTIC
What happens when you stick two people who are accustomed to being in charge on a boat in the middle of the ocean together?
We’ll find out.
Welles is always right, except when he isn’t! He’s a surgeon and an outdoorsman who frequently likes to remind his family about ‘situational awareness’. Luckily for us, he’s a solid sailor and has a knack for fixing things. He likes to wear a kilt or lederhosen whenever he can get away with it.
Val can usually find her way around any country in the world and was lucky enough to grow up speaking four languages fluently. She can’t wait to see the star-filled sky out in the middle of the Pacific and hopefully encounter whales.
If you wake him up on a school day, he’ll give you a death glare, but catch him at 5am during duck or deer season and he’s wide awake, eager to take on the day. His favorite places to be are either outdoors or playing video games. When you see the light on beneath his door late at night, he’s reading up on world history or YA fiction.
Charlotte is feisty and knows how to ask for exactly what she wants. She’s also great at reading a room and making sure that everyone is getting along. While she’s irritated that there isn‘t enough room on the boat for the Ninja® CREAMi® ice-cream maker or her vanity dresser, she’s still bringing her Sephora® inventory along and plans to look gorgeous while SCUBA diving.
Max has a thousand ideas a minute and thinks a lot about the world we live in. He’s lean and muscular and sees most spaces as a parkour course. The spicier his food, the better and he loves the wildly exaggerated story of Swiss Family Robinson.
Optimystic is our beautiful 46 foot Lagoon catamaran who will be keeping us safe and afloat over the next year. She’s got four queen cabins and ensuite bathrooms, a hard top flybridge and a hydraulic dinghy lift that doubles as a swim platform.
